About Me

Hi, I’m Shiara—a first-generation American with roots in Latin America, a love for good design, and a soft spot for my dog Lizzie. I grew up in Southern California and have lived everywhere from Buenos Aires to Miami, Chicago, and Los Angeles. These days, I call Grand Rapids, Michigan home.

When I’m not designing, you’ll usually find me working on a puzzle, rewatching Seinfeld, or curled up with Lizzie.

My Story

Before becoming a designer, I worked in healthcare and spent a lot of time inside Epic, an impressive, complex platform. But I noticed consistent issues in patient-facing tools: technical language, overwhelming workflows, and designs that made even simple tasks feel difficult.

That’s what pushed me toward UX. I love taking complex digital spaces and making them feel seamless, clear, and human. Today, I focus on creating products that reduce friction, support users, and make complicated experiences easier to navigate.
